Ashdod residents,

At the end of the 13-day "Roar of the Lion" war, below is some data to illustrate the municipal efforts to strengthen community resilience in emergencies.

Community Protection Centers (CPCs) - 28 centers have been opened in educational institutions scattered throughout the city, with an emphasis on the older neighborhoods, where the level of close protection is relatively low.
In these centers, operated by municipal teams, you can enjoy a protected area with accommodation, respite and activities for children and adults. The centers are open 24/7 for the benefit of the public who wish to stay in them.

Four underground parking lots have also been prepared to accommodate thousands of residents in the event of an escalation, God forbid. Each parking lot has a management and operational team that will be responsible for their proper operation and care for the residents. Details of the parking lots will be published when necessary.

Establishing contact with sensitive populations - special emphasis is placed on families treated by municipal social services and the city's adult population, aged 75 and over. Since the beginning of the fighting, social workers and company employees have carried out The municipal authorities made 24,014 telephone calls. And where necessary, there were also home visits by professional teams. We are thrilled that the city's veteran population is demonstrating impressive resilience that can serve as an example to all of us.

Door and window repair in the military barracks – Since the Iron Swords War, the Ashdod Municipality has operated a unique model in the country, of free repair of broken windows and doors in the military barracks. The repair is carried out by municipal teams around the clock, and so far 1,685 military barracks have been repaired. I thank you for the warm welcome you receive the teams and for your appreciation. They go above and beyond to strengthen your sense of security.

Caring for the families of the reserve and permanent service members – The Kivinim Center operates the "Eighth Space" community, for the families of the reserve and permanent service members. 3,000 calls were made within the community to clarify the needs of the families, and we are preparing to respond to the requests that arose in these calls. Distributed Backpacks were provided to servicemen, pizza trays to families, and about 1,000 gift packages of challah and cakes for Shabbat were provided by student volunteers. About 100 relief kits for children were also distributed to the families of the reserve and permanent members.
We salute the families of the reserve and permanent members and thank them for their contribution.

The various communities of Ashdod are also continuing their activities with full vigor, while adapting to the emergency situation for the benefit of community members. You are invited to join the community that interests you via the municipal website. Diverse content for families is also produced by the school for parents of the municipal company "Mahut", and they are also available to you on the website.

The operational team, which includes the municipal leadership and I, manages the emergency routine every day through situation assessments, field exercises, while accurately determining the needs and actions required, in the event that, God forbid, we are forced to deal with a significant event in the city.
We all pray that we will not need it, but we are preparing to act in the best possible way and in coordination with the security forces if necessary.

In parallel with the emergency, we are taking care of the functional continuity of the municipality - handling all the ongoing areas of the municipality's work, in education - distance learning and preparing for a responsible opening if it is decided to open the education system, in social services - handling everything necessary for welfare families, in maintaining the cleanliness of the city, maintenance, management of construction sites and permit applications, handling human resources and volunteers, information and outreach, and more.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the resilience you are demonstrating, and ask you to continue to act responsibly.
I also thank all the employees of the municipality and municipal companies and the many volunteers for their efforts during this emergency period, together with our brave partners - the Home Front Command forces, the police, the fire department and the MDA.

A strong and united Ashdod,

Yours,

Dr. Yechiel Lasry, Mayor
