Dear Residents of Ashdod,
Following the latest situational assessment, please find the updated guidelines:
Over the weekend and this morning, we experienced an escalation in both the scope and intensity of rocket fire, including direct hits in various areas across the country. This is a complex and ongoing campaign, and current assessments indicate that the fighting will continue for some time and may intensify as Passover approaches.
Recent events clearly demonstrate that there is no such thing as 100% protection. However, strict adherence to Home Front Command guidelines and the use of protected spaces save lives. In cases where instructions were followed, severe injuries were prevented—even in incidents involving direct hits.
It is also important to understand that danger exists even at considerable distances from the impact site, due to blast effects and shrapnel. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to immediately enter a protected space, remain there until official clearance is given, and strictly avoid gathering at impact sites, as this interferes with emergency services performing their critical work.
In accordance with the current assessment, the following restrictions have been tightened:
• No in-person schooling – all learning will take place remotely
• All informal educational and extracurricular activities are canceled
• Gatherings are limited to up to 50 people, in accordance with guidelines
• Significant reduction in exceptions
The Ashdod Municipality continues to operate across all departments, with teams deployed throughout the city and ongoing support for residents. The municipal hotline (106) is available for any need. We are working continuously to ensure residents’ safety and to provide rapid response to any incident.
To business owners: Please ensure that all protected spaces are open and accessible, and that immediate assistance can be provided to employees and customers when necessary.
I call on the public to demonstrate personal responsibility and vigilance, to avoid approaching impact sites, and to fully comply with all instructions. Protecting every life is the foundation of our municipal and national resilience.
Following the guidelines saves lives.
We will continue to update you and remain at your service at all times.
Please take care of yourselves and your families.
Ashdod is strong and united.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Yehiel Lasry
Mayor of Ashdod
