Summary of situation assessment 01.03.26
01.03.26 20:11
Ashdod residents,
At the end of the assessment of the situation that took place this evening, the following is the summary and instructions:
On behalf of all the city's residents, I send condolences to the families of those killed in Beit Shemesh and best wishes for a speedy recovery to the many injured.
The serious incident is still being investigated for its complex implications. We are monitoring the issue in order to draw lessons and learn.
The current instructions are to ensure that you enter standard protection, and to exit it only when you receive a message.
Inquiry with the Home Front Command with the question of why the delay time until receiving the exit message is extended, the explanation received was that this is due to the fact that when there is information about a possible sequence of alarms, they prefer to leave the entire required period of time in the area, in order to reduce frequent entries and exits from the emergency room.
We also take this opportunity to remind you of the instruction to ensure that the window and door of the emergency room are fully closed, and that mirrors and fragile objects are removed from the emergency room.
On the subject of gatherings, today we were forced to disperse a number of youth gatherings from the parks and the city garden area.
I ask in every language of request to instruct children and youth to avoid gatherings. This is a real danger to life, God forbid, when a missile falls.
Tomorrow evening we will read the scroll. And the Home Front Command's directive
is unequivocal, and it is that synagogues should not be opened at all.
Please, which of you, this is about protecting lives, and gatherings in synagogues should be avoided. This year we will fulfill the obligation of reading the scroll in private homes, each family in its own home. And with God's help, we will return to celebrations with a large crowd. Now, the focus of all of us must be protecting our lives and those of our immediate environment.
Please, ask about the well-being of elderly neighbors, and for any request for assistance for them, you can call the municipal hotline 106, which operates 24/7 in several languages.

Ashdod residents,
Following a situation assessment that took place this morning, the following are the updates and instructions;
The destruction event in Tel Aviv last night with the deceased, who unfortunately was not in a protected area, illustrated in the most clear way the importance of civil discipline and heeding life-saving instructions. We share in the grief of the family and wish a full recovery to the injured.
We have also seen that the gathering and arrival of the public at the scene of the destruction significantly harms the ability of the rescue forces to do their important work, and also endangers those who gather for fear of a missile containing cluster bombs, or additional alarms without being able to reach protection.
Please, if, God forbid, there is an event in Ashdod, do not go to the scene of the event!
Let us save lives and evacuate the affected residents for treatment and shelter. We promise to convey the information to you transparently and quickly, so that you will remain informed without the need to arrive at the scene.
The estimates are that the campaign will last for many days. Your patience and forbearance are required, especially with regard to children and youth, and you must be careful not to leave the protected area, except with a notification from the Home Front Command that the event has ended.
The education system is naturally not working. However, in order to allow children to experience the holiday of Purim, Purim activities will be held through the distance learning system, by educational institutions. Please make sure that the children take an active part in this activity.
Instructions for Purim:
In accordance with the Home Front Command instructions, public prayers should not be held in synagogues, including the reading of the Megillah.
The prohibition on gatherings also applies to gatherings in private homes, and this year private parties should be avoided. We will have opportunities at the end of the campaign to gather and celebrate, God willing. Please understand this necessary limitation, to maintain your safety and the urban resilience.
I would like to remind you that we have opened 30 community protection areas (MKs) in schools, where you can stay and even spend the night. These institutions will provide you with adequate conditions, and you are welcome to use them, as long as your residential building does not have a standard shelter.
It is very important that this information reaches all residents who lack shelter, and please pass it on to your acquaintances without standard shelter, and make sure that they know the community shelter closest to their place of residence, according to the attached list.
This is also an opportunity to check on what is happening with elderly neighbors. Please take a few minutes to check on their well-being.
If they need assistance, we are prepared to provide any type of assistance, by contacting the 106 hotline.
Shelters in shared houses must be open and free of any obstacles. For any malfunction or objection by the building's residents to opening the shelter, you can contact the 106 hotline and the issue will be addressed.
Strong and united Ashdod,
Yours, Dr. Yechiel Lasry, Mayor
