Ashdod residents,
At the end of the daily situation assessment, here are the instructions and updates:
We are after a weekend in which the number of launches towards Israel increased, from Iran and Lebanon, with a load of alerts and alarms, including alarms with no prior warning at all, or very short notice.
This means that despite the easing announced last Thursday by the Home Front Command, we are still in a very active war, and we are required to continue to demonstrate personal and family responsibility and discipline, and to enter protection immediately upon receiving the alarm.
Regarding the short notice incident, an explanation was received from the Defense Ministry that sometimes the systems detect a missile about to explode in an open area or at sea, and then a decision is made not to activate the alarm. However, later, a new indication is received that life-threatening interception fragments may fall, or some other operational development that occurred during the shooting incident, and then an alarm is triggered anyway, so that the time period for defense becomes extremely short. And we must all be aware of this, and make every effort to enter a protected area in advance.
In addition, from the incidents of interception fragments falling in other localities, we learn that their potential for harm is very significant. They are very large and heavy, and in addition to being life-threatening, they cause extensive damage. Therefore, care must be taken to quickly enter a protected area upon hearing the alarm, and to exit the protected area only upon receiving notification that the event has ended.
In any case, do not approach and certainly do not touch interception fragments or fallen objects. This is life-threatening.
I would like to emphasize that according to the instructions of the Civil Defense, gatherings are limited to 50 people and provided that there is protection that can accommodate this amount.
And we ask that you be careful not to deviate from this guideline, not even for happy events.
Although the Business Licensing Division will enforce the joyous events, we must all show responsibility and avoid holding events with more than 50 participants. That a happy family event, God forbid, will not turn into a disaster in the event of a heavy missile strike.
Regarding the operation of the education system - the current guidelines for not holding classes are still in effect, at least until tomorrow evening. We are preparing to operate if and when the Home Front Command policy establishes rules for this, and while ensuring the complete safety and security of the city's children.
For now, and with special permission, the frameworks for at-risk youth have been exempted. In principle, activities for youth of up to 30 participants can be held within a protected space, and accompanied by two adults. The parents of children in these frameworks will receive a notification with all the relevant details.
Today is International Women's Day.
And on behalf of the city's residents, we are asked to salute all the women of Ashdod for their work in this difficult campaign, and in general for the contribution of the women of Ashdod to the development and prosperity of the city. And in these days of the "Roar of the Lion" war, we extend special gratitude and appreciation to the female fighters, pilots, and combat support women who are actively participating in the campaign in Iran, for their great contribution to the victory over our enemy in all arenas of combat.
May all our forces return safely to their families.
Ashdod is strong and united,
Yours,
Dr. Yechiel Lasry- Mayor.
